Tom Kemp is currently a PhD student at Kent Law School. He’s interested in bringing about an end to immigration detention and deportation. He’s interested in the law and politics of border enforcement, in the concepts of democracy and the state and in the political thinking of anti-border social movements. He’s trying to get back into listening to new music. He’s prone to over-abstraction and falls effortlessly into mindless distraction. He feels more comfortable as a contributor to a collective and values amateurish endeavour in many pursuits over perfection in few.
‘Undo the folded lie’ is a line from Auden’s anti-fascist poem, September 1, 1939. He had wanted to use the line ‘ironic points of light’, a phrase which, he felt, reflected his political interest more sharply. But it was already taken by someone who gave up blogging five years ago.
